The King of Italian Wines. Usually deemed to be Italy's most noble red grape. Nebbiolo comes from the Alba area in Central Piedmont and is the grape of the great Barolos and Barbarescos. Ruby red in color, maturing to a deep garnet when aged. The delicate bouquet displays intense fruit and the perfume of violets. Tannic and dry meaty flavour which becomes more and more harmonic and velvety with age. Don't shortchange yourself, give this wine as much age as your patience allows. Serve with red meats, pasta with cheese or meat sauce. A natural with Parmesan, or any well aged cheese.
